Hikes are Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to avoid taking the shuttle and large crowds starting at 8 am. Weekend hikes can be arranged. The busy seasons in Sedona are spring break (March and April), October and November and Christmas holiday break.
Power spots include Cathedral Rock (not the main path), Doe Mesa, Long Canyon, Baby Bell Rock/Courthouse Butte, Thunder Mt, and other yet to be discovered power spots.

The Magic of Sedona and the Red Rocks Vortex
A vortex is believed to be a special spot on the earth where energy is either entering into the earth or projecting out of the earth’s plane. Vortexes (or vortices) are found at sacred sites throughout the world – the Great Pyramid in Egypt, Machu Picchu in Peru, Bali, Stonehenge, Uluru/Ayers Rock in Australia, etc. It is believed that the vortex energy moves in a spiral, moving up or down.
Some say Sedona’s vortex energy is so powerful that you can actually feel it and that it is powerful enough to help people take giant leaps with their spiritual development. The Native Americans believe that spiritual transformation can occur more quickly and easily in Sedona because the veils to other dimensions are thinner here.
Whether or not you believe that energy vortexes actually exist, one thing is for certain, there is “something” about Sedona that has made people travel here for something more than just its incredible beauty.
Although all of Sedona is considered to be a vortex, there are special spots that have been identified where the energy is more intense and where you are more likely to actually feel the energy.
These vortexes have been further categorized into “feminine” (energy entering the earth) and “masculine” (energy coming out of the earth). Cathedral Rock and the Chapel of the Holy Cross have been identified as feminine; Airport Mesa and Bell Rock as masculine. Boynton Canyon combines both.
As you go to these places, you will very likely see people doing meditation, yoga or energy clearings with experienced practitioners to take advantage of the special healing qualities of Sedona’s vortex energy. In my 16 years of working with this special energy, I have seen amazing transformations happen.
